Daniel Farke has admitted to Norwich City’s official website that Leeds United are potentially the best in the Championship as far as pressing goes.

Farke’s side thumped Leeds 3-1 at Elland Road on Saturday night to move top of the division, leapfrogging the Whites in the process.

Marcelo Bielsa’s troops have won plenty of praise this season for their high-energy pressing and relentless off-the-ball work, but they couldn’t lay a glove on Norwich in West Yorkshire.

In fact, the Canaries might’ve beaten United at their own game in that respect, and the German manager feels this was the case.

“You have to be brave in order to play such a game and to be there with a result. It was important to have many periods where we pressed them high and it’s important that you are brave enough to keep the ball,” he told Norwich City’s official website

“The pressing of Leeds is outstanding, one of the best in the league. From the first minute we had the feeling that we weren’t here for a close result or a draw, no. We wanted to win the game and the lads showed this on the pitch today.”

Bielsa’s side slipped to second on goal difference, but promotion is still well within Leeds’ grasp.

They are three points clear of third-placed Sheffield United, boasting a 10-point cushion in the top six overall, but their form is a concern.

The Whites have now lost five of their last seven games across all competitions and the 63-year-old coach – whose side have another tricky game next week by visiting Middlesbrough – needs to arrest this slump as soon as possible.
