Norwich City took Tottenham Hotspur’s Marcus Edwards on loan in January.

Norwich City boss Daniel Farke has told the Norwich Evening News that he feels Tottenham Hotspur loanee Marcus Edwards has improved in terms of his attitude in recent weeks.

Edwards, 19, has come up through the ranks with Tottenham and has been touted for stardom, after manager Mauricio Pochettino compared him to Lionel Messi in an interview with Sky Sports in 2016.

The playmaker had been expected to break into the Spurs side at some point under Pochettino, but has spent his time in the club’s developmental squad, making just one first-team appearance for Spurs so far.

An England Under-20 international, Edwards appears to have a bright future ahead of him if he can be nurtured correctly, and Spurs decided that first-team football would aid his development, sending him out on loan to Norwich City in January.

However, the teenager has yet to even make his Norwich debut six weeks on from his move to Carrow Road, leaving Spurs fans wondering just what is happening with one of their most precocious young talents.

Norwich take on Nottingham Forest at Carrow Road this evening, and manager Daniel Farke has now been asked whether Edwards will be in contention for the game.

Farke has told the Norwich Evening News that he feels Edwards’ attitude has improved, but he still needs to grow up more, and also become stronger in order to feature in the Championship.

Farke added that Edwards isn’t an option against Forest, but he will definitely feature after the international break, and has every chance to be involved before the break too.

“He has every possibility,” said Farke. “Our squad is not too big and at the moment without Tom Trbyull we have 21 outfield players available. So he is an option. In general, he has improved a lot, in terms of his attitude, but he can still grow up a bit more and also we have to work on strengthening his body to help his endurance and power.”

“The last two weeks he was able to do proper training with us. He is not far away, not an option for this next game (against Nottingham Forest), because it is a bit too early and he has to improve a bit in some topics. At the latest, after the next international break but he might be involved before then,” he added.
