Arsenal fans are raging at owner Stan Kroenke – and Daniel Ek is emerging as a very real alternative.

Kroenke hasn’t exactly been popular for a while, but fans protested on Friday after the American attempted to take Arsenal into the ill-fated European Super League.

On Friday, Spotify founder Daniel Ek tweeted that he would like to buy the club from Kroenke having been a boyhood Arsenal fan.

The Telegraph note that Ek’s idea of buying Arsenal is very real, and he has now brought Patrick Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry on board with him.

That’s an exciting proposition for Arsenal fans, but just how did the Swedish billionaire come to support the Gunners in the first place?

A tweet posted by Ek in 2018 sheds some light on the matter, as he claimed he has supported Arsenal since 1991.

The reason for that? Well, Swedish star Anders Limpar was excelling for Arsenal at the time, and was a real hero back home.

Ek named Limpar as the reason for picking Arsenal, though he has also indicated a love for Borussia Dortmund in the past too.

Limpar even sent a blank tweet to Ek earlier this week, with Ek now potentially in line to own Arsenal all those years after Limpar inspired him into picking Arsenal as his team.
