‘DC’ is still shocked by this featherweight contender’s UFC 325 snub.
Matchmaking has always sparked debate in the UFC, and 2026 started off with two decisions that really got people talking.
The bigger story was Arman Tsarukyan being passed over for the lightweight title fight at UFC 324, with Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje getting the nod while Ilia Topuria remained out.
But Daniel Cormier thinks there’s an even tougher situation. He believes this guy has it worse than Tsarukyan…
Daniel Cormier says Movsar Evloev is in a worse position than Arman Tsarukyan after UFC 325 snub

This weekend’s UFC 325 event in Australia will be headlined by the rematch between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes.
Lopes, who lost to the former champion less than a year ago, was given the nod over unbeaten contenders Evloev and Lerone Murphy after just one win in that span.
The Russian holds a perfect 9-0 record and has recently beaten Lopes, Arnold Allen, and Aljamain Sterling.
Cormier believes Evloev’s situation is even tougher than Tsarukyan’s within the UFC.
“Lord knows what’s going on with Movsar Evloev,” Cormier said during a video on his YouTube channel.
“He hasn’t even gotten any type of traction towards a championship fight,” he added. “He hasn’t even started to build any traction at all. He’s not even scheduled to fight.”
Alexander Volkanovski says he wanted Movsar Evloev as next opponent
Evloev’s title shot snub came despite his claim being green-lit by the champion.
Arguably being the greatest featherweight of all time and being in the midst of his second title reign evidently has not helped ‘Alexander the Great’ get a say in his choice of challengers.
If he did, Volkanovski would have selected Evloev last year.
“You ask me who I would be most excited for, it probably would be Movsar (because of) the fact that he deserves it,” Volkanovski said during an interview on Demetrious Johnson’s YouTube channel.
“He’s undefeated. The last undefeated guy I lost to, so I haven’t been able to take someone’s zero yet.”
It is unclear why Evloev was overlooked. But there have been multiple instances where “boring” fighters have had their championship chances delayed – most notably Belal Muhammad.
