Daniel Candeias has reacted to Rangers’ brilliant Europa League victory on Thursday night.
The Gers beat Leipzig 3-1 on the night at Ibrox and 3-2 on aggregate to reach the final of the competition, which takes place in Seville on May 18 against Eintracht Frankfurt.
John Lundstram, signed by former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard last summer, was the hero with an 80th-minute winner which sent the light Blues through to the showpiece in a couple weeks.
Candeias only spent two years on the books at Ibrox and left as long ago as 2019.
But the Portuguese winger remains vocal about the club on social media and here’s how he reacted to last night’s victory on Instagram:
And to be fair, victory in the final isn’t all that unlikely.
It was back in 2008 when Zenit were quite rightly favourites and the Russians proved it on the night with a comfortable 2-0 victory in the UEFA Cup final.
However, on this occasion, Rangers might be expected to win.
That’s because Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s troops have already seen off stronger German outfits than Frankfurt this season, having beaten Borussia Dortmund and now Leipzig.
That fact might tip the odds in the Gers’ favour and it’ll be fascinating to see if the Ibrox club can put a relatively dismal domestic season to one side to focus on European glory.
