Rangers ace Daniel Candeias appears to be playing a new role at Ibrox.

Rangers winger Daniel Candeias has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he is happy to play wherever Steven Gerrard wants having already switched his position.
The Gers drew 0-0 with FK Shkupi on Tuesday night, meaning they are now into the next round of the Europa League qualifiers having won the first leg at Ibrox 2-0 last week.
Rangers aren’t quite firing on all cylinders yet though, and new boss Steven Gerrard may need to make some key tweaks in order to get his attack producing on a more regular basis.
Gerrard has already made one key decision with one of the existing Rangers squad, as he has decided to change the position of winger Daniel Candeias in the two games against Shkupi.
The Portuguese wide man has hugged the touchline for his entire career, and was a key signing for the flanks under former boss Pedro Caixinha having worked together at Nacional, but Gerrard has already modified his role.
Candeias has been used as a central midfielder with the license to get forward and drift wide, with Gerrard seemingly looking to take advantage of his technical ability to pick out passes from the middle of the park.

Rangers fans don’t appear convinced given that Candeias is a strong crosser of the ball, and taking that attribute away from his game by playing him centrally is reducing his impact, but the 30-year-old has offered his view.
Candeias has told the Glasgow Evening Times that Gerrard has spoken to him about his change of position, and he is happy to play wherever he is needed, and will give 100% for the team no matter what as he wants to show that he can play in different positions rather than simply being seen as a winger.
“No, the gaffer spoke with me about playing in this position. I will play wherever he wants,” said Candeias. “It is important for me to play in various positions. What is important is the team. And when you give 100 per cent for the team, you play wherever,” he added.
