Rangers beat Hearts 2-0 at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.
Rangers continued their fine form under Graeme Murty on Saturday afternoon, as they beat Hearts 2-0 at Ibrox thanks to goals from Jamie Murphy and Russell Martin.
The Gers had won four of their last five games heading into Saturday’s clash with Hearts, and made it five wins in six with a comfortable victory over Craig Levein’s side.
After firing one shot wide of the post in the first half, January signing Jamie Murphy danced through the Hearts defence and rounded Jon McLaughlin before tapping Rangers into the lead.
Rangers pushed for a second after the break, and after Josh Windass tested goalkeeper McLaughlin, Russell Martin bagged his first goal for Rangers by tapping home Daniel Candeias’ cross from close range.
Rangers temporarily moved six points behind league leaders Celtic before moving back to nine points today, and manager Murty will be delighted with his side’s form in recent weeks.
After the game, a number of Rangers players took to Twitter to offer their reactions to the win, with winger Candeias praising the performance of his teammates and the support from the Ibrox crowd.
Defenders Declan John, James Tavernier and David Bates also sent messages to fans after keeping a clean sheet, with Tavernier delighted to play his 100th league game of his career, and also to captain Rangers for the first time at Ibrox.
