A Scottish Premiership player has slated the ‘laughable’ discipline of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers this season.
Rangers’ disciplinary record this season has been described as ‘laughable’ by a current Scottish Premiership player.
Much has been made over the fact that Rangers have picked up no fewer than eight red cards in all competitions already this season.
The Gers under Pedro Caixinha and later Graeme Murty only managed six during the entire 2017-18 campaign.
The way they’re going, Steven Gerrard’s side are on course to obliterate that, and Kilmarnock goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann – on loan from Watford – told The Scottish Sun that he has ‘no idea’ why the Ibrox outfit are so ill tempered.
“Their discipline is not what it should be,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“I have no idea what is the reason for it. But to have collected eight red cards before we are even midway through December is laughable.”
The Austrian put his point across in a relatively forceful way, but he does have a point.
Rangers are a very ill-disciplined side and Gerrard really needs to get a handle on it before it costs the Blues big time.
It might have already cost them a trophy, given that 17-goal striker Alfredo Morelos was suspended for the 1-0 defeat by Aberdeen in a League Cup semi-final earlier this season.
Umar Sadiq had to lead the line for Gerrard’s side on that occasion, and it’s a different outcome had the Colombian been available, but an outburst at referee Bobby Madden in a previous round earned him the yellow card which led to his suspension.
