Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Daniel Bachmann from Watford in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

What’s the story?

It is being reported by The Sun today that Arsenal have shown an interest in Watford goalkeeper Bachmann.

Dutch club Ajax are also interested in the Austria international goalkeeper.

However, Watford, who will play in the Premier League next season after winning promotion from the Championship, do not want to sell the 27-year-old.

The former Stoke City prospect is reportedly rated at £15 million.

The report has added that Arsenal are now focusing on Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Could Daniel Bachmann to Arsenal happen?

Watford refusing to sell Bachmann this summer is a blow for Arsenal.

But, if the Gunners are genuinely keen on the Austrian, then they should not give up.

Bachmann’s reported value, £15 million, is not really a lot, especially when you consider that he will be the back-up goalkeeper at Arsenal.

Bernd Leno is the number one between the posts for manager Mikel Arteta, and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Bachmann played 23 times in the Championship for Watford last season and played four games for Austria at Euro 2020 this summer.
