Daniel Arzani names Celtic team-mate who helped him with injury

Daniel Arzani’s Celtic career is comprised of 20 minutes of football so far.

Daniel Arzani has revealed to The Daily Record that pearls of wisdom from Celtic team-mate and fellow Australia international Tom Rogic eased the mental anguish of his season-ending injury last term.

Arzani joined Celtic on a two-year loan from Manchester City last summer, but the winger’s season was tragically cut short after only 20 minutes of football under Brendan Rodgers.

On his debut, the 20-year-old suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in a 5-0 win over Dundee in October and he still hasn’t fully recovered.

But Arzani has revealed that he was coached through the mental aspect of such a devastating blow by his Socceroos team-mate, who himself has spent time on the sidelines since joining the Hoops.

He told The Daily Record: “The boys have been good at keeping my spirits up – especially Tom as he’s a bit older. He talked to me about the problems he had with his hips which put him out.

“He was saying that you’ve just got to knuckle down and get through it. Tom’s such a chilled-out guy, really easy going. Not much fazes him, he’s just doing his own thing.”

Arzani is on the comeback trail but he won’t be fit for Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers against FK Sarajevo next month.

All isn’t lost for the youngster, who still has another season to go at Parkhead.

This is a player who impressed for his country at last summer’s World Cup and once he’s fully fit, it’ll be interesting to see if Neil Lennon – who didn’t sign him – uses him.
