Liverpool secured an excellent first-leg victory over Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has taken to Twitter to heap the plaudits on Reds defender Trent Alexander-Arnold after the Merseyside outfit secured a superb Champions League win over Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp’s men earned a surprise 3-0 win at Anfield against Pep Guardiola’s City, defying the odds after losing 5-0 to City earlier in the season with the odds stacked in the Premier League leaders’ favour.

Mo Salah continued his excellent goalscoring rate by bundling home from close range inside 12 minutes, before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a wonderful long-range strike. Salah then turned provider to cross for Sadio Mane.
But a superb rearguard performance kept City at bay, including a dominant performance from teenager Alexander-Arnold on the right side of defence – and Dane Agger was effusive in his praise for the 19-year-old.
The Liverpool academy product played well beyond his years, showing the kind of maturity and defensive nous expected of a player that has made more than just 36 senior appearances for the Reds.
Liverpool now face bitter Merseyside rivals Everton on Saturday in the Premier League, before looking to defend their excellent first-leg result at the Etihad next week against City in the second leg.
