The Spaniard has been out of action for nine months.

Nottingham Forest were busy on transfer deadline day, with players both coming in and out at the club.

One player who left was Alex Iacovitti.

The left-back, who looked to be a part of the first-team picture at Forest this season after featuring in two Championship games, has joined Mansfield Town on loan until the end of the season.

So why would Forest let the Scotland youth international go considering he is currently in the first team?

Perhaps this tweet may offer a clue to the thinking:

Spanish left-back Dani Pinillos appears to be taking his first steps back toward first-team action.

Pinillos tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the game with MK Dons just before Christmas. It was a bitter blow for a player who had been a big hit since his arrival at the City Ground.

It was the latest in a long line of serious injuries at Forest and fans feared the worst.

However, after nine months, it appears that Pinillos is back – giving manager Philippe Montanier another option at left-back and a reason to give Iacovitti regular playing time out on loan.
