Reports in Spain suggested that Tottenham Hotspur were very close to agreeing a deal for Dani Olmo.

Dani Olmo has been in flying form since being heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Sport in Spain claimed that Tottenham were ready to spend £36 million on Dinamo Zagreb winger Olmo, and there were suggestions that the deal was as good as done.

Mucho Deporte claimed that Spurs had agreed a fee for Olmo with Zagreb, and he was expected to sign on at Hotspur Way, but the transfer never materialised in the end.

Tottenham may well be regretting that now, as Olmo has been in flying form since the start of the season.

Olmo has scored four goals and claimed four assists in just six appearances for Zagreb this term.

The Spanish youth international has not even been solely boosting these figures in the Croatian league, where the standard may not be as high.

Three of Olmo’s goals have come in Champions League qualifying, with Zagreb making it into the group stages.

If the 21-year-old attacker continues to perform to this level then his value could sky rocket this season.

And Spurs may well live to regret not pushing harder to sign Olmo while they had the chance.
