Tottenham Hotspur were said to be interested in Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos in the January transfer window, and he should have had all the encouragement he needs that the move would be good for his development after last night.

Zinedine Zidane named a fringe side to take on Leganes in La Liga, yet Ceballos was only used as a substitute in injury time.

The likes of Mateo Kovacic and Lucas Vazquez were both used ahead of Ceballos, and if he cannot break into Madrid’s reserve line-up it is hard to see exactly how he is going to progress at the Bernabeu.
