Danhausen has become one of the fastest-rising stars in WWE since he debuted with the company earlier this year.

His ‘cursing’ gimmick was already popular in the wrestling community, but the former AEW man has now transcended his own sport and has quickly become popular with the New York Knicks supporters.

The Knicks recently won their first NBA championship of the 21st century, and Danhausen was a talking point during their road to glory, even garnering the attention of the now-retired John Cena.

Danhausen calls John Cena a ‘great friend’

Cena recently shared an Instagram post of Danhausen in attendance at a New York Knicks game wearing their jersey.

As ever, the former WWE Champion posted the picture without comment, but Danhausen has now responded.

Taking to his official X/Twitter account, he wrote: “Danhausens great friend Johnhausen.”

The Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 4-1 to clinch their first championship since the 70s over the weekend.

But Danhausen continues to be involved with the NBA team and could even feature at their celebration later this week.

According to Fightful on X: “WFAN Sports Radio has publicly invited Danhausen to be a guest at the Knicks’ championship parade in New York City on Thursday!”

Meanwhile, the wrestler is still featuring weekly on WWE TV, most recently having a backstage segment with Women’s Champion Liv Morgan on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw.

What is next for Danhausen in WWE remains to be seen, but fans would no doubt love to see him wrestling more and maybe even go after a title.

Night of Champions is the next Premium Live Event in the company’s calendar, taking place on June 27.

Danhausen is not currently booked in a match for the show, but that may change in the coming week or so.
