Tottenham Hotspur have some fantastic young players coming through, and with the right coaching and mentoring, Spurs could be on the verge of something of a golden generation.
The likes of Alfie Devine, Troy Parott and Jamie Donley are all very highly rated, but the jewel in Spurs’ crown is undoubtedly Dane Scarlett.
Making his first-team debut at just 16, huge things are expected of Scarlett, and if rumours are to be believed, Spurs could soon make a signing that will hugely benefit the young attacker.
Indeed, according to Roberto de Fanti, Tottenham are interested in a move for Marcus Rashford, and there’s reason to believe that the Manchester United star could be the perfect mentor for Scarlett.
Much like the young Englishman, Rashford was handed his first-team debut in Europe as a teenager, and he knows how to deal with the pressure and expectation of bursting onto the scene at such a young age.
Aside from that, there have actually been comparisons drawn between Scarlett and Rashford in terms of their style of play.
Indeed, Jose Mourinho, who has worked with both players, directly compared Scarlett to the United star.
“He has worked many times with the first team and that gives him a different personality. He is still 16, 17 soon [in March] and I believe next season he will be a first-team squad player because he has a lot of talent,” Mourinho said.
“He is going to be a fantastic player and I hope everything around him goes well. He is a striker, a number nine, I have been playing him from the sides similar to Marcus Rashford and he is very clever.”
If Scarlett is to be the next Rashford, who is there better to mentor him than the man himself?
Scarlett is working under one of the best managers in the world right now, and if he’s also able to work and learn from Rashford, he will have almost the perfect environment to grow and progress into a superstar.
The teenager should be very excited about the idea of Rashford coming to Tottenham.
