Matt Ritchie moved from Bournemouth to Newcastle United during the summer transfer window.

Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 26th October, that Matt Ritchie is loving life at Newcastle United.

Gosling and Ritchie were teammates at Bournemouth, and the pair have kept in contact after the Scotland international’s move to St. James’ Park.

Gosling says that Ritchie has always spoke positively about how he’s settled in at Newcastle, and he expects his former teammate to become a key figure on Tyneside.

“I spoke to Matt Ritchie since he’s been there, and he’s really enjoying himself,” Gosling said. “He’s becoming a star up there with his assists and goals.

“They’re doing really well and I expect them to go up with relative ease.”

Ritchie’s move from Bournemouth to Newcastle was a shock when it went through, as the winger dropped a level to join up with Rafael Benitez’s side.

Ritchie has previously caused havoc in the Championship, and he is doing so again now he is in a Newcastle shirt.

The 27-year-old has scored four goals and claimed seven assists in his first 15 appearances for the Tynesiders.

Ritchie hit the back of the net last night, as Newcastle beat Preston North End 6-0 in the EFL Cup.

Ritchie is likely to start for Newcastle again, when they take on Preston at Deepdale at the weekend.
