Dan Gosling reflects on his Newcastle United spell

Dan Gosling is set to feature for Bournemouth against Newcastle United this weekend.

Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling has told The Daily Echo that he has moved on from his disappointing spell at Newcastle United.

Gosling moved to Newcastle in the summer of 2010 after leaving Everton and was on the books of the Magpies until the summer of 2014, but he could make only a handful of league appearance for the first team.

The 28-year-old midfielder has been at Bournemouth since 2014 and has established himself as an important player for the Cherries.

The former England Under-21 international – who earns £35,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – will come up against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon when the Cherries travel to St. James’ Park in the Premier League.

Gosling told The Daily Echo on his spell at Newcastle: “I was there for four years and didn’t really get a chance to play.

“It was a tough four years but I learned a lot, I stayed professional and worked hard. I can’t really blame myself for that, there were other circumstances out of my control.

“I have totally moved on from that. I’m at a very good club here and am very happy with my football.”

Newcastle are struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment, but Rafael Benitez’s side won last weekend and will be full of confidence for the game against Bournemouth.

The Cherries, though, do have a better team than Newcastle, and Eddie Howe’s side will fancy their chances of picking up all three points at St. James’ Park.
