Dan Gosling scored against former side Newcastle United on Saturday.

Dan Gosling has told The Chronicle that his goal against former club Newcastle United on Saturday probably shouldn’t have led to Bournemouth winning a point.
The Magpies looked on course for all three points at the Vitality Stadium when a first-half double from Dwight Gayle helped Rafael Benitez’s side into a 2-0 half-time lead.
But Adam Smith struck on 80 minutes to throw the Cherries a lifeline, before Gosling, who spent four years on Newcastle’s books but only made 24 appearances, pounced with a last-minute equaliser to deny his old side the victory.

Benitez’s troops had missed a number of clear-cut opportunities to extend their lead to 3-0.
And the 28-year-old admits that the Tyneside club could and probably should have killed off Bournemouth long before their comeback started.
“It was a nice feeling to score, not so much on a personal note,” Gosling replied to The Chronicle when asked if it was extra special to score against his former club.

“I didn’t really think about that [scoring against Newcastle] when I was celebrating, it was more for the result for us.
“It’s very important not to lose to teams around you and that point gives us another game to go again and just to keep building momentum. They probably should have put the game to bed.”
