Dan Barlaser has told the Chronicle that he wants to leave Newcastle United on loan in January.

Barlaser is yet to get a taste of playing regular first-team football, with all his experience coming from playing for Newcastle’s youth teams.

The midfielder is highly regarded at St. James’ Park, but is currently playing for his future on Tyneside.

Barlaser has just over a year left on his contract, with his current deal due to expire in 2019.

And the youngster has suggested that he wants to be playing first-team football at Newcastle within the next two years.

“My short term aims are, because I want to move on loan in January, are to win as many games as I can with the under-23s, get through the Checkatrade Cup and get through the International Cup,” he said.

“Long term, I want to get on loan in January, show what I can do, and hopefully be back and ready to play for the first-team.

“By the time this contract is up, hopefully I will be playing in the Premier League.”

Barlaser appears to have little chance of breaking into Newcastle’s team this season, as they have been in impressive form so far this term.

Newcastle’s midfield seems to be working effectively in the top flight, which leaves Rafael Benitez with no reason to disrupt his starting line-up by throwing in an untested youngster.

Barlaser is yet to make his senior debut for Newcastle, and clearly feels that his development would be best served by moving to a Football League side.

Newcastle have already sent the likes of Adam Armstrong and Ivan Toney out on loan this season.
