Newcastle midfielder Barlaser is currently on loan with League Two side Crewe.

Newcastle United youngster Dan Barlaser has told the Evening Chronicle that he is eyeing a place in the Toon’s first team despite a disappointing loan spell with League Two side Crewe Alexandra.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been afforded just 58 minutes of first-team football at Crewe since his loan move in January that will see him remain at Gresty Road until the end of the season.
The six-time Turkey Under-17 international’s lack of game time even saw him return to Tyneside to play in the Magpies Under-23 side on Monday night, helping Newcastle beat Colchester 3-0 in the Premier League Cup.

Barlaser claimed he is eyeing a first-team spot at Newcastle and even stated that development squad coach Ben Dawson has spoken to manager Rafa Benitez over Barlaser’s potential first-team involvement.
“I want to try to get myself in the first team,” Barlaser said. “Ben rang me and told me that he’d spoken to the first-team manager and he wanted me to play [on Monday night].
“The manager shows that he wants the lads to go away and develop so that’s good as well.”

Barlaser has managed just three senior appearances for Newcastle since graduating from the academy at St. James’ Park, featuring against Birmingham City and Oxford United in the FA Cup last term and Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.
He has plenty of central midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order, with Benitez boasting talent such as Mo Diame, Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden and Mikel Merino, while Jack Colback and Henri Saivet are out on loan.
He has two and a half years remaining on his current Newcastle contract and Benitez could be tempted to give him more game time in the near future.
