Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth has personally made enquiries about Arsenal target Youri Tielemans, according to journalist Ben Jacobs on The Football Terrace.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Leicester City midfielder Tielemans wants to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Jacobs has added that the Belgium international midfielder wants to move to a big club such as Manchester United and Liverpool.
The journalist has further said that Newcastle are keen on the £120,000-a-week (SalarySport) midfielder, and that the Magpies’ sporting director Ashworth has personally made enquiries about signing the 25-year-old midfielder.
Newcastle want Youri Tielemans, who eyes Arsenal transfer
Jacobs said on The Football Terrace, as translated by The BootRoom: “If Arsenal put in an offer, Tielemans wants to go to Arsenal.

“If Arsenal don’t put in an offer, that’s when it gets interesting because Tielemans would still rather move for European football than stay at Leicester.
“He’d still rather move to a big club like Manchester United than have to extend at Leicester City. And he’d like his future resolved as early as possible in a World Cup year.
“Newcastle are growing in their interest. Dan Ashworth has made enquiries. But nothing, as yet, has materialised.”
Where next?
In our view, Arsenal would be more appealing than Newcastle United for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.
Arsenal will play in the UEFA Europa League next season and will also compete for a spot in the top four in the Premier League table.
Now, of course, we know that Newcastle are a big and established club in the Premier League, and they now also have wealthy owners in PIF.
However, it could take the Magpies a few years to start challenging for top honours.
