The Reds’ recent financial reports have made for incredibly concerning reading for fans.

Nottingham Forest fans were in complete uproar as their financial reports for 2016-17 were released, showing that the club had spent £3.5m on agent fees alone, as reports BBC Sport, while respected financial reporter Swiss Ramble has revealed the club’s wages to turnover ratio for the 2015/16 season was the league’s highest at 166%.

The nature at which Forest has been ran by owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has infuriated the fans for a very long time, with the Kuwaiti owner being subject to repeated vocal protests for the manner in which he has handled the club since taking over in 2012.

That anger has now cranked up a notch, as essentially, former captain Henri Lansbury was sold in order to cover the club’s expenditure on agent fees, with Lansbury signing for Aston Villa in January for around £3m, as reports the Daily Mail.

As well as this, Forest’s consistent decline under Al Hasawi has come at a staggering financial cost, with the club paying players extortionate amounts for a minimal return in comparison to their earnings.

With the club’s finances in a precarious situation due to Al Hasawi’s mismanagement, it seems certain that some of the club’s star players will be sold in the summer transfer window to try and balance some of the books.

When such an inevitability takes places, on top of everything else under the disastrous reign, it’s hard to see how there won’t be yet more protests against Al Hasawi and his ownership at The City Ground.
