Celtic’s new reserve coach Damien Duff has told The Express that is annoying Brendan Rodgers already, and doesn’t necessarily think Rodgers will be heading to Leicester City.

Rodgers headed to Celtic in 2016 in order to take over his boyhood club, and to rebuild his reputation having been sacked by Liverpool in 2015.

He has certainly done that, having won the domestic treble in each of his first two seasons with the club, whilst he has also taken the club back into the Champions League twice too.

Unsurprisingly, Rodgers is earning interest from clubs in England, and The Scottish Sun reported just days ago that Leicester City want Rodgers as their next manager.

Foxes boss Claude Puel is under huge pressure, and a defeat to Wolves this weekend could bring an end to the Frenchman’s time at the King Power Stadium.

Rodgers has been busy in January regardless, bringing in three attacking signings in Oliver Burke, Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo, as well as a new reserve coach in Duff.

Duff and Rodgers worked together briefly at Chelsea and have now reunited, with Duff now telling The Express that he is back annoying Rodgers once again.

He added that he thinks Rodgers is ‘happy’ at Celtic, and hopes he will stay for years yet as Celtic is his dream club, playing down talk of a move to Leicester.

“Brendan’s an amazing manager and a top man and long may he stay,” said Duff. “Celtic is his dream club. When I speak to him he seems so happy. People overlook the fact he almost won the Premier League with Liverpool.”

“I first met Brendan when he was youth manager at Chelsea. Jose Mourinho seemed to love the Irish and took a shine to the gaffer back then. I’d see Brendan every day and always have a bit of craic with him. I learned loads off him then because he would be up and around the first team.”

“That was the one thing we would chat about all those years ago – how much he loved Celtic and how much I loved the club. It’s funny how football works and I’m back around him now, annoying him. I’m over the moon to be here,” he added.
