Damien Comolli has long been associated with the Premier League, and he was recently linked with a return.
The Frenchman was a European scout at Arsenal before heading to Tottenham Hotspur in 2005, with a brief spell at Saint-Etienne in between.
Comolli did help bring the likes of Luka Modric and Dimitar Berbatov to Tottenham, but was dismissed in October 2008 after three years in the job.
Comolli was back in England two years later though, becoming Liverpool’s director of football. It didn’t go too well, as he splashed out for the likes of Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Sebastian Coates, though Jordan Henderson was the big success of his two-year stint.
Last month, rumours began emerging of a possible comeback. The Daily Star claimed that Comolli was heading up an American consortium looking to purchase a Premier League club, with West Ham the favourites.
Newcastle United were also being targeted, with Comolli the football man involved alongside various investors as he looked to bounce back from his Fenerbahce departure.

However, Comolli won’t be heading to Newcastle or West Ham, as he was presented as Toulouse’s new president on Wednesday.
Toulouse have been purchased by American investment fund RedBird Capital Partners, and they have put Comolli in charge of the club as they look to bounce back from relegation.
It all does line up, with Comolli heading the American consortium, but instead of landing a Premier League job, he now has to restore his reputation in France’s second tier.
