Former Liverpool and Tottenham director of football Damien Comolli has told the Eastern Daily Press that he thinks Norwich City’s new sporting director Stuart Webber is ‘very bright and hard working’.
The Canaries have been searching for a sporting director since sacking Alex Neil last month, and they finally landed their man last week.
Webber, formerly of Liverpool, Wolves and QPR, had been working at Huddersfield Town, overseeing the David Wagner era, in which the Terriers are challenging for promotion to the Premier League.
Webber has decided to leave his post at the John Smith’s Stadium though, and has now been given a blank canvas with Norwich following Neil’s departure.
A new manager is needed, and Webber will seemingly use the summer to land his man, with caretaker manager Alan Irvine in charge for the foreseeable future after Saturday’s 7-1 win over Reading.
Webber may not be a household name for many Norwich fans, but one man who knows him well is former Tottenham director of football Damien Comolli, who worked with Webber at Liverpool.

Comolli has spoken to the Eastern Daily Press that he thinks Webber is ‘very bright and hard-working’, praising his leadership skills and ability to unite people.
Comolli added that Webber is ‘proactive and aggressive’ when it comes to pursuing his targets – a particular noteworthy comment given suggestions that Fleetwood Town boss Uwe Rosler could a target for the Canaries.
“Stuart’s very bright and hard-working, he has a good ethos and leadership skills,” he said. “He’s excellent at bringing people together and is well liked by his staff because they respect the fact that he’s a good person who works hard. In terms of recruitment, he’s very proactive and aggressive in pursuing targets. I think he’s got the whole skillset required to do well in the job,” he added.
