There are some big questions to answer for the Dallas Mavericks after they decided to part ways with Nico Harrison.

The Mavericks are moving on from a Nico Harrison era that left them with plenty of issues, including a roster that needs serious attention.

Harrison’s move to trade away Luka Doncic proved too much for fans to forgive, and it did not take long before the front office made their move in response.

Dirk Nowitzki appeared to back the decision, reflecting the overall sense of frustration among those close to the team during Harrison’s time in charge.

The organisation now faces important decisions, including concerns over a potential trade involving Anthony Davis and questions about Kyrie Irving’s future with the team.

According to NBA insider Ary, the Dallas Mavericks are now looking ahead and planning their future around Cooper Flagg.

At the moment, they are working with Anthony Davis’ representatives on a potential trade. As for Kyrie Irving, while there is no push to move him, the team is open to listening if a strong offer comes in.

“The Dallas Mavericks, in the aftermath of parting ways with GM Nico Harrison, are positioning their future around generational prospect Cooper Flagg, a league source tells The Consensus,” he began by saying.

“Dallas, though, remains focused on building for both the present and long-term. Rival teams have inquired about the availability of Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis, though those situations are fluid.

“The Mavericks have spoken with Davis’ reps at Klutch Sports regarding his future, sources said. Dallas hope to keep Irving after signing him to an extension.

“The Mavericks hope to keep Kyrie Irving but if something unprecedented comes along they will consider it I’m told.

“Irving is highly respected in Dallas and has built a strong bond with Cooper Flagg. Irving signed a three-year, $119M extension in July, as we reported.”

Dallas Mavericks must consider all options going forward

Right now, it is probably in the Mavericks’ best interest to keep every option on the table. Outside of Flagg, everyone on the roster should be available if the right deal comes along.

Internally, Daniel Gafford is seen as their most tradable asset, mainly because of how much depth they have up front.

Trade talks are even including other stars like Klay Thompson.

This has not been an easy stretch for Mavericks fans, but there needs to be a clear plan in place that does not shy away from tough decisions ahead.
