Scottish football legend Kenny Dalglish thinks potential buying clubs will have taken notice of Alfredo Morelos after his brilliant goal for Rangers in Europe on Thursday night, writing in his column for The Sunday Post.

The 23-year-old striker was his usual exciting self against Porto in the Europa League, netting a crucial equaliser in a 1-1 draw that could have a huge bearing on Rangers’ qualification for the knockout stages.

It was the kind of goal that vindicates the Gers’ desire to keep him at Ibrox for as long as possible rather than sell him.

However, Dalglish thinks that such performances will inevitably lead to more interest.

As quoted by The Sunday Post, he said of the Colombian: “When you get big results in Europe – as both Celtic and Rangers managed to do on Thursday evening – it attracts attention.

“That leads to people talking about your players, and doing their homework on them.

“Indeed, Alfredo Morelos’ goal in Porto will have made other clubs sit up and take notice.”

Do Rangers fans need to worry about a January exit?

While Morelos’ early season form has enhanced his reputation even further, until there is concrete interest Rangers don’t have any big decisions to make.

Rangers have already made it quite clear they won’t be accepting any fee for him below what they feel is his true value. At the end of the English transfer window recently they were said to have rejected a bid in excess of £10m for the player (The Daily Record).

However, once that value is met, it’s likely nobody is going to stand in the way of the Colombian’s exit.

That kind of money coming Rangers’ way in January is unlikely so fans should rest easy for now.

The likelihood is that Morelos’ contribution, which already stands at 15 goals and five assists, will be enjoyed by supporters until the end of the season at least.
