Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will be in “daily” contact with sporting director Ross Wilson and the Ibrox board as they plan the Gers’ title defence this summer – as Scottish football icon Kenny Dalglish predicts Gerrard’s phone will be red-hot this summer.

The Gers manager and his staff are on a well-earned break after the incredible title success that saw the Light Blues smash a host of records on their way to the club’s first title in a decade.

While the Gers have already secured deals for Nnamdi Ofoborh and Fashion Sakala, Dalglish expect there to be plenty more wheeling and dealing as the Ibrox staff attempt to recharge their batteries before doing it all over again.

“They are on a well-deserved break from club football, and it will give the manager and his staff the chance to recharge their batteries,” Dalglish wrote in the Sunday Post.

“But they will not have a complete rest. That is just impossible. Steven’s phone will still be red-hot, and he’ll still be working closely with the board and Ross Wilson on a daily basis.

“They will be determined to build on this season and keep the success going.”

Getting more quality into the squad and adding more depth will be vital for the Light Blues this summer after being down to the bare bones in the final weeks of the season.

Gerrard has already confirmed there will be more transfers to come in so Rangers fans will be looking forward to seeing what other new faces arrive.

However, with plenty of reported interest in Gerrard’s Ibrox stars too, the Ibrox boss might have a few incoming calls to deal with over the summer too.
