Andrew Robertson, who was was released by Celtic when he was 15, is starring for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at the moment.
Andrew Robertson may have failed to make the grade at Celtic, but the Scotland international is flying high for Liverpool, and Kenny Dalglish has been impressed, according to comments on the Reds’ official website.
Dalglish, who is a legend at both Celtic and Liverpool, has spoken highly of Robertson, who has been in great form for the Reds so far this season.
The 24-year-old left-back joined Liverpool from Hull City in the summer of 2017 for an initial transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £8 million.
The Scotland international defender, who earns £50,000 per week as salary according to The Express, has established himself as a key player for Jurgen Klopp’s side, and is playing well both in the Premier League and in the Championship.
Former Celtic and Liverpool forward and manager Dalglish, who earned 102 caps for Scotland in his playing career, has praised Robertson.
Dalglish told Liverpool’s official website about Robertson: “Andy’s a quality player. He has pace, his final ball is excellent and he plays with his heart on his sleeve. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to see him flying the flag for Scotland.”
Celtic’s mistake
Dalglish’s praise for Robertson is another reminder to Celtic about the mistake they made regarding Robertson.
The left-back told BBC Sport back in July 2014 that he was released by Celtic when he was just 15 years of age because of being small.
The 24-year-old has come a long way since then, and his performances and rise to one of Liverpool’s most important players is a constant reminder to the Hoops about the mistake their made almost 10 years ago.
