Dale Gordon urges Celtic to appoint David Moyes as their new manager, questions Neil Lennon

Celtic are edging closer to securing eight Scottish Premiership title wins in a row and the historic treble-treble.

Dale Gordon has stated that Celtic should appoint David Moyes as their new manager as he questioned whether Neil Lennon could do the job long term.

The former Premiership winger also claimed that Moyes is coming from a similar background than Brendan Rodgers, who left the club earlier on in the campaign.

Following Rodgers abrupt departure to Leicester City, Lennon took the reigns and he is yet to be beaten since his return.

However, Gordon doesn’t think the Northern Irishman’s appointment would work long term as he urged the club to appoint Moyes.

“I think David Moyes would be a good fit for Celtic,” Gordon told the Evening Times.”There are question marks about Neil Lennon. Going back to your old club doesn’t always work. Of course, it was a no-brainer for him to take the temporary role but will it work long term? “

“I would compare David’s situation to that of Brendan Rodgers. David, of course, started at Preston then made his reputation at Everton and that led to Manchester United, even if that didn’t work out for him.

“Brendan was similar – Watford, Swansea and then Liverpool where he ultimately just failed to take them to that next step. Rodgers needed to go somewhere where he could build his reputation up again – David Moyes is at that point where he probably needs to do the same.”

There is no doubt that Lennon is very popular amongst the Parkhead faithful with his character and his aggressive style his standout qualities.

But it remains to be seen if he is given the job on a permanent basis or whether the Hoops decide to look elsewhere.

Moyes, who has vasts amounts of experience in England’s top flight would be a sound appointment, but the Scot has suffered during his last few jobs.

Nonetheless, before the season draws to a close, whether he is here next season or not, Lennon will be hoping to secure the treble-treble for his side.
