Celtic are reportedly amongst the clubs currently having a look at Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry.
With 18 goals scored and one conceded in their last six, Celtic do not appear to have too many issues right now. Yet Brendan Rodgers would be forgiven for wanting to enjoy a busy transfer window.
The Hoops are playing some excellent football and still claiming emphatic wins when they are not at their best. It is an ominous sign for their rivals, and seriously exciting for the Parkhead faithful.
In terms of areas that Celtic must strengthen in January, defence appears set to be the priority. Despite their brilliant form at the back, the Hoops appear to be in a somewhat precarious position with Filip Benkovic on loan and the Daily Mail reporting that Fulham are eyeing a fresh move for Dedryck Boyata.
The pair have been exceptional together, and having to replace one of them in January would be a huge blow for Rodgers, let alone both men.
But perhaps recent reports suggest that Rodgers has his eye on a fantastic target.
According to TEAMtalk, Celtic have joined Spurs, Chelsea and Bournemouth in scouting Middlesbrough youngster Dael Fry. The report suggests that Boro have no intention to sell the 21-year-old and the player is not looking to leave.
Nevertheless, Fry would be a superb signing for the Hoops if they were able to get anything done. The England under-21 international is already developing into an imposing centre-back who boasts plenty of quality with the ball at his feet, while he has also been deployed as a right-back on a handful of occasions this season.
Interestingly, only one Boro player has provided more Championship assists than Fry this term, who has set up two goals so far.
Boro are obviously not going to make it easy for any interested side to snatch Fry off their hands. But if Celtic do lose one of their centre-backs in January, then perhaps the Hoops need to push the boat out and make a big bid for the youngster.
He has the potential to be an inspired signing for a Celtic side that is starting to really dominate once again.
