Liverpool made it three victories in a row on Wednesday night as they ran out 2-1 winners away at West Ham.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds fell behind in the 12th minute at the London Stadium as Lucas Paqueta fired home from range.

However, Liverpool quickly drew level, Cody Gakpo netting on 18 minutes with a long-range effort of their own.

Jarrod Bowen then thought he had put the Hammers ahead in the second half, only for VAR to disallow his effort.

Liverpool went on to grab a winner as the unmarked Joel Matip headed home from a corner in the 67th minute.

There was late controversy as Thiago Alcantara handled in the box late on, but the officials allowed play to continue.

Liverpool are now just a point behind fifth-placed Aston Villa with a game in hand, and six off the top four.

‘Excellent’

Liverpool academy graduate Curtis Jones delivered another impressive display for the Anfield outfit.

The £47,000-a-week talent has had his fair share of critics during his time in the Reds senior team.

However, he is really starting to come to the fore as he delivered another great performance.

Neil Jones of Goal.com gave Jones – who made his fifth consecutive start – an 8 out of 10 rating.

‘Excellent off the ball and used it really well too,’ he wrote. ‘Taking responsibility and showing composure throughout.

‘Quietly having a pretty good run of form.’

Meanwhile, Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo gave Jones a 6 out of 10.

He wrote: ‘Plenty of tigerish work down the left and notably playing a little higher as Liverpool dominated first-half possession, but tougher going after break although kept ball well. Subbed.’

Jones also clocked up some good stats, as per Whoscored.com.

He boasted the best pass accuracy in the match, at 94.4 percent.

Jones also made three key passes and weighed in with five tackles and two interceptions.

Jones deserves praise for how he has been playing of late, and hopefully he can continue going from strength to strength.
