Newcastle defender Curtis Good starred in the Under-23 side on Wednesday night.
Newcastle United defender Curtis Good has told the Evening Chronicle that he struggled to earn a loan move and attract interest this season due to his injury problems.
The 24-year-old is in the final year of his contract at St. James’ Park but has remained on Tyneside this season instead of being loaned out, which has seen him fail to make a single appearance for the Premier League club.
Good has endured a difficult spell at Newcastle since his move from Melbourne Heart in July 2012, featuring in just two senior matches for the Toon with multiple injuries preventing him from having more than a minimal effect.
The one-time Australia international stated that he did not generate a loan move because he was failing to play for Newcastle, and reckons that you need to be playing consistently to generate interest.
“There was a chance but it was difficult for me personally,” Good said. “I wasn’t playing at the time and you need to be playing well in games like this and doing well for clubs to look at you.
“There were opportunities but it wasn’t really suitable. It was about getting game time and hopefully I can do that until the end of the season.”
Good, who reportedly earns £12,000 per week, is way down the pecking order behind the likes of Chancel Mbemba, Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark and Florian Lejuene.
He is set to see his contract expire now at Newcastle, with just three months remaining on his current deal.
