Newcastle United defender Curtis Good has told FOX Sports in Australia that he will ‘definitely’ be leaving the club this summer when his contract expires.

The Magpies have to make tough decisions on certain players and their contracts this summer, with the likes of Massadio Haidara and Jesus Gamez seemingly heading for the exit.

Another player who can walk away is centre back Good, with his contract coming to an end and no extension in sight after making just two appearances for the club.

The 25-year-old defender signed from Melbourne Heart in 2012, but has been an outcast at St. James’ Park, with his only considerable game time coming in loan spells at Bradford City and Dundee United.

The Australian defender, who has one cap for his country, will become a free agent this summer and will be desperate to join a team where he can play regularly, having made just 41 senior appearances in his career.

Now, Good has told FOX Sports in Australia that he will ‘definitely’ leave Newcastle this summer, and would preferably like to stay in the UK with his next move.

Good added that he would like to go on trial somewhere and impress, but doesn’t want to head back to Australia any time soon.

“I definitely will be moving on,” said Good. “It’ll be good for a change, obviously getting back to playing senior football is the biggest thing for me, the next step. I definitely want to stay in the UK. I want to give it another crack at the highest level. I feel like I had a great opportunity that was upset with my situation.”

“It’ll be nice to go trial somewhere if the opportunity comes up. The biggest thing is people seeing that you can play, and I’ve played over 20 games this season. I’d like to come home, but maybe when I’m older,” he added.
