Curtis Davies has laid into Mateusz Klich for kicking off the altercation during Leeds’ 2-1 win against Bolton on Saturday when he poured water down Joe Williams’ back.

A foul on Ezgjan Alioski in the second half resulted in a coming together between both teams, but it was further escalated by Klich’s actions as Davies claimed he was ‘nowhere to be seen’ after the incident.

As a result of that melee, Bolton manager Phil Parkinson was sent to the stands, Magennis was booked for his challenge on Alioski, but his teammate, Klich stayed out of referee’s Tony Harrington’s book.

Nonetheless, speaking on EFL on Quest (23/02/2019) at 9:33 pm, Derby County defender Davies shared his thoughts on the incident that unfolded in the second half.

“He [Klich] is the one that has kicked off the whole brawl really,” Davies told Quest. “He is the one who has done that, slowly stepped away and nowhere to be seen.

“Look, he is then having another drink [pictures of Klich having a drink seconds after the incident are then shown]. I think Leeds in this situation are lucky because they got away with no bookings and then Bolton see their manager sent off.”

In the game in itself, Patrick Bamford opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 16 minutes before the relegation-threatened team equalised through Mark Beevers six minutes later.

Midway through the second half, Alioski’s cross was misjudged by the back peddling opposition goalkeeper, who ended up conceding a costly goal for his side and a valuable one for Leeds.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side did move into second place for a small matter of time before Sheffield United’s 1-0 win at West Brom moved them back into second place, ahead of Leeds on goal difference and two points behind Norwich City.

The positive for the Whites is that they have a game in hand on their promotion rivals and if they can win that game in hand then they will move top of the Championship table.
