Julio Cesar is off to Toronto FC – as confirmed by their current keeper Joe Bendik.
QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar is all set to become the latest big name signing for MLS powerhouse Toronto FC.
Following on from the signatures of USMNT star Michael Bradley from Roma and Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe – it now appears that former Blackburn and QPR defender Ryan Nelsen is ready to return to his former club in order to bring the Brazilian number one to Canada.
The Toronto Sun seems to have the inside scoop on the deal, as they did when Defoe was snapped up.
They report that Nelsen is prepared to trade out Argentine midfielder Matias Laba after just nine months with the club in order to fund the deal.
Cesar is currently second choice behind Robert Green at Loftus Road – and desperately wants to play first-team football in order to be in his best form for a home World Cup for Selecao.
And it seems he has got that wish – as even the current Toronto keeper has confirmed he is on his way.
Joe Bendik, who played 33 games for the club last season, is all set to drop to the bench in the eventuality that Cesar arrives at the club.
And he posted this humorous Tweet on the matter …
