Billy McCulloch, Chelsea’s masseur, has all of a sudden become a household name after giving the Blue’s team talk before their 1-0 victory.
Jose Mourinho has come in for plenty of acclaim this week after masterminding Chelsea’s impressive win at Manchester City, helping shatter the home team’s record of having won every Premier League game on their own turf.
But, as was reported in the press conference following the game, it wasn’t just Mourinho that played a part in encouraging the Blues players to glory.
Masseur Billy McCulloch, can also take some credit, having delivered the team talk that sent John Terry and his teammates out on to the Etihad pitch with such impressive focus and effectiveness.
Below is Mourinho admitting the role of McCulloch ahead of the match.
“He was screaming so much in his Scottish that I didn’t understand really,” joked the Chelsea boss. “I’m serious, ‘rah rah rah!’ I didn’t understand but the players were clapping”
After doing a little digging though it’s clear that McCulloch is more than comfortable stealing the limelight from his more renowned Chelsea colleagues, as this hilarious video made up of previous appearances on Chelsea TV proves.
Though the comic skills of McCulloch may be debated, there is no denying his charisma and enthusiasm, with Frank Lampard looking particularly entertained.
