West Ham United should seriously consider a move for the Crystal Palace man this summer.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is expected to be extremely busy during this summer’s transfer window, and the acquisition of a cultured midfielder will surely feature highly on his agenda, with Mark Noble’s powers seemingly on the wane.

The Croatian has a lot of work to do to make up for last summer’s disastrous player recruitment drive, although it must be mentioned that the club’s board were equally, if not more culpable for their failures.

With this in mind, a fantastic option for the east London outfit could be Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye, with the Frenchman’s future at Selhurst Park uncertain following Sam Allardyce’s surprise resignation last month.

The 31-year-old former Newcastle and PSG star is one of the most technically gifted central midfield players in the division, and with just one year remaining on his current deal with the Eagles, they could be tempted to sell this summer, rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

Cabaye would add a certain level of nouse and creative quality to the West Ham engine room, and he would offer an alternative to Mark Noble, should the Hammers skipper endure another difficult campaign.

The 48-capped France international is also a set-piece specialist – something that Bilic’s side have lacked since Dimitri Payet’s acrimonious departure to Marseille in January.

The Palace man would surely provide the Hammers with a different facet to their attacking play, what with his keen eye for a killer pass and his composure on the ball.

He made the move to Selhurst Park in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be in the region of £10 million, so the Eagles will surely want to recoup at least that amount if they are to sanction his exit.

That sort of price would represent fantastic value for West Ham, however, in today’s inflated transfer market, and they should do everything within their power to make it happen.
