Crystal Palace appear to have moved on from signing Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor, after making a bid for Tottenham Hotspur’s Ben Davies.
Crystal Palace’s reported move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies (The Guardian), suggests that they have given up on their chase for Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor.
Palace made a £7 million offer earlier this month (The Guardian), but it was turned down by Leeds.
With Taylor out of contract in the summer, there were fears that a Premier League club could come back with an improved bid to test Leeds’ resolve further.
However, Palace seem to have moved on from signing the 23-year-old, with Sam Allardyce targeting other players.
Palace have already signed Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester City, and if they are able to complete a deal for Davies they would be well stocked at left-back.
Leeds still have interest in Taylor from a range of top flight clubs, but Palace’s decision to move on, suggests that the Whites are determined to keep hold of their youngster.
Garry Monk has already stated that Leeds won’t be selling any key players this January, as he is keen not to derail their promotion push in the Championship.
