Yannick Bolasie’s hat-trick for Crystal Palace against Sunderland has given him a taste for goals.

Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie has told talkSPORT that his mentality has changed as a result of his recent hat-trick against Sunderland.

Bolasie became the first Palace player this season to score three goals in the same game during the Eagles’ 4-1 win against Sunderland earlier this month, and he admits that his achievement has made him hungry for more.

The tricky winger has always been admirably unselfish throughout his career so far, but Bolasie has suggested that he will become slightly more self-centred in the future.

“It was amazing to get three goals,” he said. “Once I had that second, I was seriously hunting for the third. It’s not something I normally do, so it is definitely a new side to my game – it was telling.

“It’s changed my mentality a little bit, making me more interested in scoring goals. Obviously I like setting up goals, but scoring a hat-trick made me much more confident. I’m getting in more scoring positions and I know where the goal is.”

Bolasie has never been a regular scorer and it is an area of his game that he clearly needs to develop if he is to become an elite level winger.

The Democratic Republic of Congo international has all the ability to reach the very top of the game, but he does need to start delivering more of an end product.

Bolasie has been accused of lacking consistency in the final third previously in his career, so his determination to start stealing more headlines can only be a good thing.

Bolasie has already been linked with the likes of Liverpool in the Daily Mirror today, and it seems that Palace may face a fight to keep him in the summer.
