Wilfried Zaha has simply stated on Twitter ‘You’re welcome, Nico’, as he was making reference to providing a wonderful assist for the Arsenal man whilst on international duty.
The Ivory Cost recorded a 3-1 win over DR Congo on Sunday, with Pepe netting the second goal of the game by simply taping the ball home from close range.
But it was Zaha’s run and fancy footwork inside the area that made the goal, as the Crystal Palace man laid the ball on a plate for the Arsenal summer signing, who finished off what turned out to be a high-quality goal.
Zaha would get on the scoresheet late on in the game, as he sent this message to Pepe from his personal Twitter account, as the video of him providing the Arsenal man with the assist did the rounds on social media.
In the summer, Arsenal were keen to add a wide player to their ranks, as they seemingly made a move for Zaha, as reported by The Mirror.
In the end, a move didn’t materialise and Arsenal secured the services of Pepe instead, as Zaha stayed at Selhurst Park, but there’s no doubt his future will come into question again when the transfer window re-opens.
Given the speculation that surrounded him in the summer, Zaha did start the new season in a quiet fashion, but it seems as though he is beginning to pick up some form.
Whilst the Arsenal fans would love a player like Zaha, it is perhaps in the defensive department that they need to bulk up on, as they now have an abundance of attacking talent at their disposal.
