Crystal Palace will move for Russia international Daniil Fomin if they can’t lure Donny Van de Beek away from Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to Championat.
Van de Beek has found the net just twice in 50 games as a Man United player.
But, don’t forget, upon arriving at Old Trafford two years ago, he was as one of the most effective goalscoring midfielders in the whole of European football, a reputation he forged during a dazzling spell at Ajax.
Maybe, one day in the future, Daniil Fomin will be viewed in a similar light.
Like Van de Beek, the Dynamo Moscow ace certainly has an eye for goal.
And, like Van de Beek, he loves nothing more than arriving fashionably late in the penalty area, popping up in the most unexpected of locations before tapping a loose ball into the back of the net.
With seven goals in 19 games this season, Fomin has already equalled his tally from the whole of last term.
One more and this will be the most prolific campaign of the 24-year-old’s entire career.
Will Crystal Palace land Donny Van de Beek?
According to Championat, Fomin is seen at Crystal Palace as something of a back-up option.
An affordable alternative if Man United opt against sending Van de Beek out on loan to Selhurst Park.
And there is a very real chance that they will do just that.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has already said, via The Sun, that he wants the seldom-seen Dutchman to stay and fight for his place.
United also turned down a loan bid from Everton last summer while Van de Beek himself reportedly rejected Newcastle’s advances a week ago.

According to Russian publication MetaRatings, Crystal Palace are willing to fork over £4 million for Fomin.
Are Dynamo Moscow willing to sell a star player for such a fee, midway through the season, with a title on the line? Possibly not.
Dynamo are second in the Russian Premier League table, two points adrift of Zenit St Petersburg.
Fomin is reportedly a target for West Ham and Newcastle United too.
