Ahead of today’s 11pm deadline, Crystal Palace and West Ham both made attempts to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United.
The £50m man – who David Moyes interestingly plans to use in the centre of defence – has played just four minutes of football under Erik ten Hag this season, with Diogo Dalot preferred at right-back.
Wan-Bissaka’s chances of an exit seemed slim seeing as Manchester United face off against Leicester in the Premier League tonight.
However, the 24-year-old has been left out altogether by Ten Hag, boosting Crystal Palace and West Ham’s chances of securing a deal.
What’s the story?
Well, even if Wan-Bissaka had been named on the bench, a deal would’ve been impossible with the defender in Leicester, and little time to travel to London before 11pm.
However, the Manchester United No.29 is now free to roam – interestingly, this is the first time he has been left out of a matchday squad this season, having started the other four Premier League games on the bench.
Ten Hag claims Wan-Bissaka is missing due to a “small complaint” – we may be clutching at straws here, but the Dutchman doesn’t specifically mention an injury.
Sadly, the Crystal Palace academy graduate has endured a miserable time at Old Trafford of late.
Wan-Bissaka didn’t play a single second of Manchester United’s final five Premier League games of last season under Ralf Rangnick, and Ten Hag doesn’t seem to appreciate his talents either.
Crystal Palace & West Ham may be forced to wait until January
Had Manchester United signed a new right-back before today’s 11pm deadline, Patrick Vieira and David Moyes may have had a decent chance of signing Wan-Bissaka.

It was Sky Sports who revealed that the Red Devils were eyeing a move for Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest, which – if successful in their pursuit – would’ve seen the Englishman free to leave Manchester.
However, the American has now signed for AC Milan, and with no further incomings expected, Crystal Palace and West Ham may have to put their interest in Wan-Bissaka on hold until January.
