Crystal Palace seem to have been dealt a January transfer blow, as the Daily Mail have reported that right-back target, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is now set to stay at Manchester United.

The Athletic had reported a number of weeks ago that Palace were strong contenders to sign Wan-Bissaka from United in the January transfer window.

Furthermore, it was stated that Patrick Vieira’s side could get the deal over the line for a reasonable fee of £10 million.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka having made his name for himself at Crystal Palace before heading to Manchester United in 2019, it seemed like a return to familiar surroundings in January would have aided all parties.

Considering Erik ten Hag clearly favours the in-form Diego Dalot, he would have now been able to find an adept backup who suits his style of play much more than the Croydon-born defender.

As for Palace, Wan-Bissaka would have been a significant upgrade on both Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne, two players that certainly need replacing.

For the player himself, he had the golden opportunity to rebuild his stock at a club where he fared excellently in the past.

But now, a transfer seems to be off the table.

As per a report by the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace will now be unable to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka in January, as Manchester United have decided to keep him at the club.

Erik ten Hag reportedly believes that the 25-year-old has proven his capabilities as an able backup to Diego Dalot, which is a key factor behind why he has ditched a move for Wolves’ Nelson Semedo.

While Aaron Wan-Bissaka was ‘open’ to leaving Manchester United in January, with clubs such as West Ham and Crystal Palace seemingly interested, an exit is now off the table.

Palace are likely to be gutted, as Wan-Bissaka would have been a superb addition for them.
