According to The Athletic, Crystal Palace are interested in a January deal for Eintracht Frankfurt maestro and Nottingham Forest target Djibril Sow.
The Switzerland international was the subject of a bid from Nottingham Forest over the summer, with Blick even claiming that the Premier League newcomers offered him a contract worth £100,000-a-week.
Sow eventually stayed in Frankfurt as he wanted to play Champions League football with the Europa League winners, and he is now starring in the competition.
Crystal Palace & Nottingham Forest target shines
Last night, the 25-year-old shone for Eintracht Frankfurt as the Bundesliga side held Tottenham to a 0-0 draw in matchday three of the Champions League.
Sow earned himself the WhoScored Man of the Match award following a superb display, in which he was an effective presence both defensively as well as going forward.
The Swiss midfielder registered four key passes against Spurs – more than any other player on the pitch – including a golden chance for Ansgar Knauff.
Sow also made five interceptions in midfield, which was again the most of any player from both sides.
Furthermore, the Eintracht Frankfurt No.8 completed 66 passes – more than any of his teammates.
It was a dominant display from Sow, although we doubt Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest were pleased to witness it.
Crystal Palace & Nottingham Forest may now struggle
In our view, Eintracht Frankfurt are well within their rights to increase Sow’s price tag as he begins to shine in the Champions League.
Aside from that, we expect bigger clubs – with all due respect to Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest – to enquire about Sow if he maintains such impressive form.
He also has a contract with Eintracht Frankfurt running until July 2024, so the German side find themselves in a strong negotiating position.
Be sure to keep an eye on the Switzerland international going into 2023, as interest from the Premier League could gather pace.
