West Brom talisman Jay Rodriguez is unlikely to remain with the Baggies throughout their Championship push after this summer and has been linked with moves to Burnley and Bournemouth, while West Ham and Crystal Palace are monitoring his situation, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The 28-year-old is expected to go for a lofty fee after bagging 11 goals in all competitions last season, in a team that registered just 31 goals in the Premier League, as he is essentially their marquee asset.

The Eagles are in serious need of attacking reinforcements this summer, having flirted with relegation under the winless tenure of ex-boss Frank de Boer, but Wilfried Zaha’s timely return from a long-term injury rejuvenated the squad and Roy Hodgson eventually cemented an 11th place finish.

With Benteke’s slump in form – registering a meagre Premier League three goals – Hodgson will have to ensure the side have more goals in them next term, and the signing of Rodriguez would go a long way to rectifying the issue.

Having netted goals against Manchester United and Liverpool in wins over both, the Englishman has proven he is capable of scoring at the highest level. His movement and clinical edge in front of goal would also take some of the pressure off the likes of Zaha.

As well as providing depth up top, the prospect of the two starting games together and dove-tailing in counter-attacking moves would be an intimidating prospect for any Premier League defence.
