Crystal Palace should look to Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos in January to solve the club’s attacking woes.
Rangers star Alfredo Morelos could be an excellent January signing for Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace, despite the South London club beating high-flying Chelsea at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The 21-year-old Colombian signed for Rangers in the summer after attracting considerable fanfare at Finnish club HJK, where he netted 11 goals in 12 appearances.
Despite only signing in the summer, Morelos has already established himself as one of Rangers’ key players under manager Pedro Caixinha this season, leading the way in the SPL top scorer charts. He has bagged six goals in eight games, averaging a goal every 98 minutes and contributing 35% of Rangers’ goals this term.
With Christian Benteke injured, and despite the three points from the Chelsea game, Palace still look likely to have issues up front, with Freddie Ladapo, on loan at Shrewsbury Town last season, and Zaha the club’s only fit strikers.
Should Palace fail to make up more ground on their relegation rivals in January, Morelos could be the man to dig the club out out of trouble.
Morelos’s pace and athleticism could bring the best out of Wilfred Zaha and Andros Townsend. Plus, with age on his side, Morelos could be a long-term investment with short-term benefits for the London club.
