If Southampton are to approach Thomas Tuchel about their manager’s role, Crystal Palace should too.
Southampton are hoping to bring in former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel as their new manager, according to the Independent.
The 43-year-old left the Bundesliga giants last month and the Saints, who are considering Claude Puel’s future, could make a move ahead of the new Premier League season.
But while Southampton discuss Puel’s situation, an English rival would be wise to nip in and appoint Tuchel.
Crystal Palace have been without a manager since Sam Allardyce announced his departure, making them perfectly placed to strike for the German coach.
Although Palace finished six places below Southampton last term, they recovered well from a poor first half of the season under Alan Pardew and arguably boast a better squad than the Saints.
There is quality in the midfield with Luka Milivojevic and Yohan Cabaye, the pace of Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend out wide and, in Christian Benteke, a proven goalscorer up front.
The defence may need some work, but there is certainly enough talent there for Tuchel to work with.
If Southampton believe they can attract the ex-Dortmund man, Palace should too – and he is the best manager realistically available this summer.
