Crystal Palace will reportedly make a bid of £10million in an attempt to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Islam Slimani.
Crystal Palace are prepared to pay £10million for reported West Ham United target Islam Slimani according to reports in Algeria and Portugal.
Newspaper A Bola has followed up on stories from the player’s homeland which claim the Eagles are readying a move for the World Cup star.
Slimani scored two goals for Algeria this summer, and shone with his direct running and intelligent forward-play. And following an impressive campaign with last season’s Primeira Liga surprise package Sporting Lisbon, reports suggested the 26-year-old could be on his way.
West Ham were reportedly in the box-seat for his signature as they attempted to move permanently for a player they had last been tipped to bring in on loan back in January.
But now a whole host of clubs are said to be interested, including sides from Germany and Spain. And it could be this increased interest that has prompted Tony Pulis into a move.
Slimani scored 10 goals for Sporting last season and set up another four. And his emergence this summer suggests he could be a very effective signing for a Premier League side.
Sporting had reportedly rated the player at around €8million, but that has since risen to a reported €12.6million – a fee Palace are reportedly ready to pay.
If that proves to be true, the only remaining question is whether West Ham – or anyone else for that matter – opts to do the same.
